I use it to charge BB 8900 (which requires MicroUSB charger) with a mini USB charger, and it works well.
You just pop it on or off depending on which connector you need. These adapters are great because they tether to the end of your existing chargers. I thought about just getting a bunch of new micro-usb car and travel adapters to replace the old mini-usb ones. The problem with that is then each car would need two because we still need the old one for an older BlackBerry.
I have a Blackberry Storm that this works with. I have order 4 of these adapters, and they work great, I can finally use all those old Motorola power adapters that I have lying around.
Saved me from having to buy a new car charger when all I needed was this adapter. Product works great.
It even has a tie that will attach it to the end of your charger cord so you can charge both types of devices from the same charger. This was great because didn't have to buy all new chargers when I upgraded from a Blackberry 8703E to a Blackberry Storm.
